Holiday House: Villa description Villino in Prato 562
Description
Position: the Villa, situated in a strategic position, provides a highly convenient starting point for tourist and cultural excursions and sports activities.
In fact, just a few steps away is the Le Pavoniere Golf Club, where guests can immerse themselves in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere where golf is played all year round. Surroundings: stretching alongside the Golf course is the Cascine di Tavola Park, which borders on the splendid Villa Medicea of Poggio a Caiano. This Park was once the agricultural estate belonging to Lorenzo il Magnifico and now lends itself to peaceful walks along the tree-lined avenues and pleasant pauses in the broad meadows. There’s fun for children too, with an extensive playground just in front of the Park. At a distance of just a few kilometres, guests can visit the Medici Villa of Poggio a Caiano purchased by Lorenzo il Magnifico in 1479. This was always the summer residence of the Medici; many famous people stayed here as their guests, and it was the background to many important events in the history of the dynasty. The fame of the Villa, a fine example if Renaissance architecture, is also due to the splendid decoration for the interior, commissioned by Giovanni dei Medici, with frescoes by Andrea del Sarto, Pontormo and Alessandro Allori. Again just a few kilometres away we can visit the attractive village of Artimino (Artimino district, Carmignano) in front of which stands the impressive Villa commissioned by Ferdinando I from Buontalenti, which became known as "La Ferdinanda". The interior features lunettes portraying the Medici villas by the Flemish painter Giusto Utens.
Remaining within the city, an appointment not to be missed is a visit to one of the most important contemporary art museums in Europe, the Museo Pecci, which periodically houses exhibitions by artists of different movements and extractions.
