Tuscany is a triangular shape and the long side of the triangle is the varied and beautiful coastline that gives onto the Archipelago of Tuscany, with its most famous island, Isola Elba, where the Etruscans extracted iron, and a 1000 Napoleon was imprisoned for a few years.

Ferry services into Tuscany consist of links to the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, and further affield to Sardinia and even Barcelona in Spain. The main ferry ports in Tuscany are; Livorno, Piombino and Porto San Stefano. The main companies operating on the routes to the islands are Tirrenia Navigazioni, Trans Tirreno Express, Moby Lines, Sardinia Ferries and Toremar. During the summer months there are many more services.

Bookings can be made and tickets purchased at authorised travel agencies and below you can find a list of useful links for ferry transport in Tuscany.
