Florence has experienced a number of musical explosions in the last decade and a wide range of producers have sprung up in the area and are contributing to the now thriving local and global scene. Cult and mainstream bands have also benefited from the Florentine's desire for bigger and better live music programming; the result being that the city has become a regular on the tour itinerary of many big names and has even featured as the country's only stop-off in some world tours, the main cities normally chosen being Milan or Rome.
A number of Florentines have even made the jump from DJ to producer thanks to the ever progressing local music scene in the city. One such example is local legend Stefano Noferini (he still often plays sets in the city) along with Francesco Farfa and Alex Neri. While 'pioneering' their own production style for record labels including the Tuscany-Stella Recordings, they also DJ regularly at Tenax (see below), the best known dance club in the city for live performances.
